Privacy Policy

RivL Golf has not launched yet. For now, this website does one thing with personal information: it lets you join a list to hear when RivL Golf launches.

This policy covers this website and that list only. Joining the list does not create a RivL Golf account. Accounts, the app and competitions are not available yet. Before you can create an account, we will publish an updated privacy policy that covers them.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Who we are

RivL Golf is operated by RivL Holdings Pty Ltd (ACN 700 254 379, ABN 63 700 254 379), an Australian company. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean RivL Holdings Pty Ltd.

Privacy questions, requests and complaints: [email protected].

What we collect

When you join the launch list, we collect:

  • your email address;
  • whether you also chose to receive other RivL Golf news;
  • a record of your sign-up: the date and time, where you signed up and the exact wording you agreed to;
  • a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of your IP address, used to stop misuse of the sign-up form; and
  • a record of each email we send you: when it was sent and whether it was delivered.

If you contact us or ask to be removed, we also keep your message and how we dealt with it.

Like most websites, the service that hosts this site automatically logs technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the date and time. Our emails contain no tracking: we do not record whether you open them or which links you select.

We do not ask for your name, date of birth, golf club, handicap or scorecards on this website.

Why we use it

  • To email you when RivL Golf launches, and with occasional updates about the launch.
  • To send you other RivL Golf news, but only if you ticked that option.
  • To handle your requests, including unsubscribing and removal.
  • To keep this website and the list working and secure, and to prevent misuse.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technology to deliver the site securely.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to host this website and to store and send our emails. They handle your information only to provide those services to us.

We may also disclose information where the law requires or permits it, for example to a regulator.

Information handled outside Australia

The launch list itself is stored in Australia. Some of our service providers store or process personal information outside Australia:

  • our email provider stores your email address and the emails we send you in the United States, and sends them through servers in Japan; and
  • our website host runs a worldwide network, so technical information about your visit, such as your IP address, may be handled at the location nearest you and in the United States.

Before we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Unsubscribing, removal and deletion

Unsubscribe. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. When you use it, we stop sending you launch emails and other news. We keep a short record of your email address marked “do not contact”, so that you are not added back by mistake.

Remove your email. You can also ask us to remove your email address using our Remove your email page, or by emailing us. We take your address off the list and stop sending to it.

Full deletion. If you want no record kept at all, including the “do not contact” record, tell us when you contact us. We will delete it, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation or deal with a dispute. Without that record, we cannot guarantee your address will not be added again if it is resubmitted.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address, and the record of what you agreed to, while you remain on the list. We delete the list once it is no longer needed for the launch, including if RivL Golf does not go ahead.

We keep records of the emails we send you for 12 months, and the scrambled form of your IP address for 30 days.

A “do not contact” record is kept only for as long as we keep sending emails to the list, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, change or disclosure. We collect only what we need for the list, limit access to people who need it to run the list, and use service providers that protect information in transit.

No website or email service can be completely secure. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.

Access and correction

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing [email protected]. We may need to confirm the request comes from you, usually by replying to the email address concerned. There is no charge.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, email [email protected] and tell us what happened. We will acknowledge your complaint, look into it and respond in writing within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when how we handle personal information changes, including when the RivL Golf app launches, and change the date at the top. If a change significantly affects people on the list, we will also email them.
